AFA 2014

It's been so long since I posted because I am just too lazy to type (to think too as i am usually very long winded so my mind gets clog up with all the overload information that I need to think of how to express them out more organizedly) and rather busy with the never ending school work.

OK HERE, now lets get to an event I attended!! On the 7 December 2014, I went to Anime Festival Asia 2014 where I reached Suntec City at about 11 plus. It was my first fresh experience at AFA and it was rather good! The ticket cause $13 to go in the convention centre but if it includes stage concert/performance its more expensive. Now I know why people keep going to such events! Before going I have this goal in mind to take photos with cosplayers. I thought of taking photos only partly because I think the mechanises that sold there would be really expensive. Heh, but I bought a dust cap for $6 and a pencil case for $8 even though I don't know the characters on the design. I bought them cause I find that they look nice!!

THE BEST WAS I MANAGE TO TAKE PHOTO WITH COSPLAYERS!! Some were rather good looking *smirks* Mission accomplished! WOO! Some of their costumes were really cool like wings with lights and this Iron man cosplayer when I asked him for a photo he pressed a button or something near his head then the mask automatically wind down to cover his face!! Can see the amount of efforts these people put in to make these stuffs. Now I have a better understanding of how AFA works, the cosplayers will walk around either in a group, pair or one person etc or situate themselves at a particular space or corner to wait for people to ask them for a photo! Then there was this big paper bag they sell where there's random things inside (t-shirt etc) that is related to the characters shown on the paper bag which cost $20. They also sell food inside the convention centre! They were also teaching a group of people some dances too!

We walked for like 3-4 hours just inside the convention center itself and guess what, we met some that I assumed were some big shot idols. We saw 3 groups! Ok let me elaborate on that, first group was when we chance upon a poster on the wall saying 2PM these 3 idols will come for a photo session, one of them looks quite good looking in the poster (dress in white like an angel) so we decided to queue for like 30 minutes before they came. But they wasn't really as good looking as how it look on the poster though. We got freebies from them after we took a photo and while we were walking around there would be occasion freebies being given out to us!! Luckily we came early, as we managed to walk in ease with the oxygen level higher until like about 3+ the crowd starts to come in and moving around was less easy. I enjoyed myself looking at all the damn cool cosplayers while some have a crowd around them to take photos of them or with them. Phew, luckily I took quite a few earlier on! There were many different characters/roles like soldiers, Jack Frost, dragons, ancient times characters, Spirited away characters etc!

The second group of idol we saw were the one I think is the most famous among the other 2 we seen. As they look really amazing especially the one in red with a cigarette in his mouth which I wonder how he can hold it so long there but later found out from a short video that he really held it himself as when he wanted to laugh he swiftly removed the cigarette. After laughing, he quickly put back the cigarette again! These idols were apparently some Space Ailen (Yuegene Fay, Kaname and Reika, I managed to find their names.) The red one his makeup look quite real man! Cosplaying really takes a lot of effort and the cost is high too as you have to trial-and-error for some stuffs, make your own accessories, props, wigs, do your own makeup and costumes. My first photo taken there was given to a fake Death Note (won't move those) as there was this guy suddenly putting this hat on our head when we walked pass his booth and tell us to take a photo with it and come back at 3.45PM which I forgotten about it after that. We just went up to random cosplayers whom we want to take photo with them and say: Can I take a photo with/of you?  Some would just nod their head in agreement. Some of damn seem rather unfriendly or a bit fierce. I don't know if they were just acting out their character or they are just like that. Chance upon, this cheeky spiderman looking guy whom took photo with me in a funny pose! He was trying to put on his mask when I approached him.

The last group was this duo who look not bad especially the one with a guitar but occasionally you will find the other one good looking too or the both as they look rather similar. When they ended their song and went to the backstage the fans started shouting: "ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE" which I think former already know but just purposely go backstage then come up again. Whilst, they were rocking with hyped up energy on stage, the fans would all flipped their hair crazily in the air to the rhythm with them. Swirling towels in the air and there's this moment where the idol picked up a towel from the stage swirled it a few rounds then throw it to the audiences! Typical style eh but that lucky fan would be overwhelmed with joy! Imagine I got something thrown by my favourite idols!! OMGG! I can fly by then! Even though I don't know who they were but I still videoed them and after their performance ended they took a group picture with the fans which I didn't joined in as I also don't know them if go in take picture with them would be rather weird. The guitar one looked into my camera when I was taking photo!! BUT IT WAS BLUR, DAMN IT!!

Weee, one of the best part was I finally saw a person there that I know! Evangeline Neo (I searched her name on fb), who draws comics!! I seen some of the comics of Japan VS Singapore comics that were drew by her and some were quite true or funny. So I was quite excited when I saw her and my friend also saw her favourite instagram manga/anime artist at a few booths away from my. I went to browse through the stuffs she was selling, quickly, as I don't want to stand there where the person will look at you when you're looking at the things, that awkward atmosphere. She got sell some of her comic books and some other stuffs which I can't remember but were too expensive to me. I wanted to buy something from her to show my support and then yes! I found a bookmark that cost $1 so I bought it from her and asked for her autograph!!! I told her that I seen her comic strips before and she said Thank You to me! She asked me if I want the autograph to be in Chinese, Japanese or English. After a few moments of hesitation, I replied Japanese. Since this was kind of a Japanese event and how frequent will you get a Japanese autograph?! So my choice was right but shortly after I said that, I changed, instead I should have said English but after awhile I still find Japanese autograph was more worth it!

AFA14 was indeed a fun event!! Might go there again for the next year!
